TechRadar Deals: The best laptop deals of the week: April 11th 2016

Laptop Deals 11.4.2016

Toshiba announced recently that it would be exiting the consumer laptop market, meaning that some brands like Satellite will be discontinued. What it does mean for laptop buyers is that you can expect a lot of Toshiba laptops to be heavily discounted as the company clears out existing stocks. So watch out for bargains to be had. Toshiba confirmed that it will be honouring all warranties on them.
The three laptops we've listed this week should cater for most tastes. A powerful laptop that can do gaming, a Core i3 laptop that costs the same as lower-specced notebooks and a 2-in-1 Windows-powered convertible that's barely more expensive than an Android tablet.

Lenovo Z51

Z51
Superb budget gaming laptop
If you are after a gaming laptop that doesn't cost the earth, then you might want to check out this Lenovo notebook. Sure, it is dearer than your average device, but it combines four specifications that make it well worth the while. At its heart is an Intel Core i7-5500U CPU, paired with a massive 16GB RAM, an AMD Radeon R9 M375 with 4GB dedicated RAM - roughly equivalent to a Geforce 940M - and a full HD 15.6-inch display. Sure, you won't be able to game at full resolution but it is one geared towards the casual gamer who doesn't mind playing at medium resolution while on the move. Oh and it does come with Intel's RealSense camera which promises to transform video conferencing.

Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15

Ideapad
A refreshing design and a great price tag
It is the first time that an IdeaPad laptop landed on our list and it is great to see that Lenovo has decided to refresh its range with a new design, one that includes new hinges and a thinner chassis, almost squeezing it into the Ultrabook category. It is a 15.6-inch laptop and yet manages to weigh only 2Kg. On top of that it is the cheapest Core i3 in the UK, comes with 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard disk drive. A DVD writer caters for your backup needs (or if you have a large collection of CDs and DVDs) and the 15.6-inch display is big enough to make watching movies enjoyable. Earn 239 Tesco Clubcard points when you buy this laptop.

Asus Transformer Book T100HA

Asus
Effortlessly versatile 2-in-1 tablet
A massive £100 discount makes this device the cheapest convertible Windows-running hybrid laptop on the market. While the 2GB system memory and the 32GB system storage are in line with our expectations in this price range, the presence of an Intel Atom Z8500 comes as a surprise since it is a more powerful version of the Z8300 that usually equips value laptops. With a battery life of 11 hours and a detachable keyboard - with a proper touchpad, it is fully equipped for full day of work and play (or watching movies for that matter). Its 10.1-inch display makes it very portable and it even comes with a pair of cameras.

Sometimes our favourite laptops pop up online at some truly deal-tastic prices. So in this section, we'll list some of the very best laptops out there and the best deals on each.
Asus Zenbook UX305

Asus Zenbook UX305

Ultrabooks are beautiful and expensive beasts but this is the exception
This is one of the best value Ultrabooks on the market and has been on our shortlist for a few months already. Its price has gone up marginally because of the exchange rate but with a gorgeous finish, a full HD display and a Core M CPU for just under £530, it is the one to beat.

Zoostorm

Zoostorm 7270-9013

This is the best affordable slim-and-thin laptop on the market
This is a laptop like no one on the market so the word unique is fitting here. It packs a tablet-size touchscreen with plenty of ports including a Gigabit one, a relatively spacious 500GB drive and plenty of system memory. The big surprise though remains the old-but-still very capable Celeron 1037U that powers it.

Dell Inspiron 15 7559

Dell Inspiron 15 7559

This is the best value-for-money laptop for gamers
See the best PRODUCT NAME deals
It is expensive but this Inspiron 7559 absolutely nailed it when it comes to value for money especially for hardcore gamers. It is even out-prices Dell somehow and manages to beat laptops that costs a third more when it comes to specifications. A quad-core desktop-grade Core i7 CPU, full HD display, a GTX960M with 4GB of memory and a 1TB hybrid drive.
Lenovo Yoga 700

Lenovo Yoga 700

A worthy rival to the UX 305.
This is essentially the award winning Yoga 3 Pro but in the shell of the Yoga 2, launched in 2013. A new Intel Core m3-6Y30 replaces the first generation Broadwell chip and there's a couple of new parts. The rest of the components are the same. Hat tip. Buy it from John Lewis to get 2 years warranty and until the 9th of April get £50 cashback to make this even more unmissable.

HP 255 G4

255G4
A laptop with some cracking features
Not only do you get £30 back (for purchases made before the end of the month) you also get a free copy of BullGuard internet security for three computers worth £25. The laptop is not too shabby as well as it is part of HP's business range which means a better build quality. You get a rather powerful AMD A8 APU, 4GB of RAM and a massive 1TB hard disk drive, unseen on a new laptop at this price. No surprise when it comes to the screen resolution and the screen size. Plenty of ports and removable storage options (a DVD burner and a media card reader).

745

HP Elitebook 745

A great laptop that exudes class!
This has to be one of the best value-for-money laptops ever to have featured in our deal shortlist. This is an Ultrabook-class device without the price tag despite being a business product. You get Windows 7 Professional, three-year warranty, a docking connector, a fingerprint reader, spill-resistant keyboard, magnesium chassis and a battery that can power the device for up to 10 hours. The actual specs of the laptop are great as well – 1600 x 900 display, DisplayPort, 128GB SSD, all in a laptop weighing under 1.6Kg. We've seen much worse at this price!

250g4

HP 250 G4

Perfect for small businesses... and everybody else!
No cashback on this one but what a blazing monster! This laptop is powered by a Core i5-6200U processor which on paper should be as quick if not quicker than the Core i7-5500U as both of them run at the same speed and differ only by the amount of cache. For the rest, the 250 G4 has the finish you'd expect from a business laptop from HP – a bit bland but durable. You get a DVD writer, 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD with a ubiquitous 15.6-inch display and an impressive array of business management tools.

Asus1

Asus EeeBook E403

A laptop with up to 14 hours battery life!
It's difficult not to be wowed by this laptop. Sure, it has only 2GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage but that should be enough for Windows 10. What set's it apart from the competition are actually four things: there's a USB Type C connector, a Pentium N3700 processor, far more potent than the rest of the competition, a premium aluminium finish, rather than the plastic chassis usually found at this price point and up to 14 hours battery life, almost twice what we've used to on Windows laptops.

Lenovo1

Lenovo Z50-75

A great "all rounder" laptop
Use the e-coupon EASTEREGG to bring the price of this laptop down. What makes it a special buy compared to other laptops at this price point are the fact that it comes with a full HD display and decent processor/system graphics combo. The AMD A10-7300 is a good match for a Core i3 and the AMD Radeon R6 graphics should be enough for some gaming. Add in 8GB of RAM and a whipping 1TB hard disk drive and you end up with a better-than-average laptop capable of 1080p tasks.

Lenovo

Lenovo Yoga 700

Perfect for businesses... And everybody else!
Use the e-coupon EASTEREGG to bring the price of this laptop down plus until the 7th of April get an additional £50 cash back. Take an old favourite and update it; that's essentially what the Lenovo Yoga 700 is, an updated version of the Yoga 2 Pro. Almost the same chassis but with different parts and a much, much lower price. You get a 6th generation Core i5, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and a full HD 14-inch touchscreen display. The latter comes handy to bring to life the device's four-modes: laptop, tablet, tent and stand.
laptop deals
Asus1

Asus PU551LA

The cheapest Core i7 laptop in the country
If all you want is sheer power from your laptop without breaking your budget, then consider this Asus AsusPro laptop which packs a Core i7 CPU, albeit one which is nearly three years old. It should still provide with enough oomph for most demanding tasks. Bear in mind that it comes with Windows 7 Pro, which can be updated to Windows 10 Pro, and is aimed at business users. Asus says that it is tougher than most mainstream notebooks and is designed to offer increased hard drive protection. Note that it doesn't come with an optical drive.

HP1

HP Essential 15

A multi-faceted laptop
This is the most affordable Core i3 in the UK. Available in white, red, silver and purple, It uses a powerful, fifth-generation Intel Core i3 with 4GB RAM memory, a DVD drive and a 500GB hard disk drive. Customers can pick up an extra year of warranty (pickup and return) for a mere £22.80. Curiously, even if it is an entry level laptop, it still packs 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a 4-cell battery, rather than a 3-cell one found on many of its competitors. And while it is a 15.6-inch model, it weighs a mere 2.2Kg, making it almost as light as some Ultrabooks we've seen.
laptop deals
HP

HP ProBook 450 G3

Perfect for businesses... And everybody else!
Business laptops tend to be more well constructed than their consumer counterparts and this ProBook 450G3 is certainly one that will get heads turning with its aluminium reinforced keyboard deck. It packs a 6th generation Core i3, which is as powerful as some Core i5 on the market, with 4GB of RAM and a SSD, a rarity at this price point. It runs Windows 7 Pro or Windows 10 Pro and has an array of business features: fingerprint reader, GbE Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Now, the interesting bit. The item costs £444 but you get £50 cashback from HP and if you manage to send an old tablet or laptop to Dell, you get another £150 back. Terms and conditions are available from Misco and the offers are valid till the end of the month.

Toshiba 1

Toshiba CB30-B-104

One of the best Chromebook laptops around
If you live most of your online life in Google land then there's plenty of reasons why you should get a Chromebook and this one from Toshiba, provides with a great experience at a great price. Chromebooks get automatic updates and are less prone to malware. It comes with a quad-core CPU, has 4GB of RAM and a full HD 13.3-inch display. A larger-than-average display and higher-than-average resolution means that it is equally at ease for gaming or productivity tasks. We love its MacBook Air-esque look, its 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity and its expandability options. Buying it from John Lewis means that you get an extra one-year warranty.

HP455

HP ProBook 455

You simply can't beat this deal, anywhere.
This is probably the best laptop deal of 2016 so far, if you don't mind two little niggles. Firstly, it runs Ubuntu, which is a Linux-based operating system. Then there's the fact that you have to pay £300 before getting a £100 cashback from HP until the end of March. An AMD APU powers it, one which is roughly equivalent to a fifth-generation Intel Core i3 CPU. Paired with that are 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard disk drive; 6 compute cores make up the Radeon GPU and power the 15.6-inch display. There's plenty of connectivity options (four USB ports, two video ports) and a DVD writer as well.

Lenovo1

Lenovo IdeaPad 500S

Lightweight, fast and superbly designed
This laptop has it all (well almost). It is thin, lightweight, has a dedicated graphics card (albeit an Nvidia Geforce 920M) and a full HD monitor. If you want something that's powerful (it has a Core i7-6500U), has plenty of system memory (8GB) and a full HD display. Then go for it! Don't be put off by the 128GB SSD, it should be plenty for the average user. A cheaper model is available but we wouldn't bother.
laptop deals
Lenovo Ideapad Mixx 300

Lenovo Miix 300

This is a great deal on a good laptop, and the two-year warranty makes it a must-buy
This is a great deal because it offers a detachable tablet with a keyboard docking station at one of the lowest prices for any UK-based, brand new Windows PC in the market. You'd be hard pressed to find an equally powerful Android-powered convertible device for that price. We loved the fact that it had so many ports (including two full sized USB ones) and, thanks to John Lewis, a two-year warranty.
laptop deals
Acer Aspire E5-521

Acer Aspire E5-521

If you're looking for a cheap laptop, this is the best deal under £200
If all you want is a traditional laptop with quality components oozing from every vent, then check out that one from Tesco. Not only do you get 199 Clubcard points (worth almost £8), there's also an AMD APU, in lieu of the usual low-powered Atom CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard disk drive. And since this is a 15.6-inch model, you get a dedicated numeric keypad (which students will appreciate) and a DVD drive.
laptop deals
Asus E402MA

Asus E402MA

This is a fantastic deal on a punchy that's pretty but not pricey
We love this deal because this laptop comes with a Pentium processor, the only one to do so at this price. It is also slightly bigger than the competition in this price bracket which allows for a bigger display, a less-crammed keyboard and, most importantly, more ports than on smaller models. Buy it if you're on a strict budget and want something with a decent keyboard.
laptop deals
Lenovo Z51

Lenovo IdeaPad Z51

Jaw dropping gaming laptop with a dedicated graphics
This is a spectacularly good deal because it is the cheapest laptop, by a wide margin, that can do decent gaming. The Z51 features an Intel Core i5-5200U CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hybrid drive, a full HD display and an AMD Radeon R7 360 GPU with 2GB memory and one year subscription to McAfee LiveSafe security suite.
laptop deals
Dell Inspiron 11

Dell Inspiron 11-3162

An affordable laptop that doesn't break the bank
Dell might be late to the race when it comes to the cheapest laptops but the company has some interesting designs including this flashy red one that comes with an Intel N3050 Celeron CPU, 2GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. To sweeten the deal, there's a free copy of McAfee Internet Security 2016 Unlimited Devices worth at least £24.99 and 159 ClubCard points.
laptop deals

Lenovo B50

Lenovo Essential B50-70

You won't find a cheaper Core laptop in the UK
We love this deal because this laptop comes with a Core processor, the cheapest model I could find from a reputable UK company. Both businesses and individuals will find it powerful enough thanks to an i3-4005U paired with 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive. It does come with a free, one-year subscription to McAfee Internet Security.
laptop deals

HP1

HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab271sa

Surprisingly good value for money
With purple accents, this laptop will stand out of the crowd in a good way. Cramming a fifth-generation Intel Core i3 processor with 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard disk drive, it hits all the right notes if you're looking for an affordable laptop within a reasonable budget. It's the Iris graphics sub-system that powers it which is the stand-out component of the lot however. It is even faster than some discrete graphics cards.
laptop deals

Acer1

Acer Aspire E5-552G

A full HD laptop at a rock-bottom price
We love this deal because this laptop comes with the best AMD has to offer both in terms of GPU and CPU in this price range. What makes this deal even more attractive is that it comes with a two-year warranty (standard at John Lewis on electronics) and has a full HD display, which unfortunately is a rarity at this price.
