In celebration of the Hubble Space Telescope’s 26th birthday, NASA astronomers have highlighted an image of a massive star blowing a bubble into space. The Bubble Nebula, as it is known, sits 7,100 light-years from Earth.

“As Hubble makes its 26th revolution around our home star, the sun, we celebrate the event with a spectacular image of a dynamic and exciting interaction of a young star with its environment. The view of the Bubble Nebula, crafted from WFC-3 images, reminds us that Hubble gives us a front row seat to the awe inspiring universe we live in,” said John Grunsfeld, Hubble astronaut.

NASA says that the star forming the Bubble Nebula is 45 larger than our own sun. Gas on the star gets hot enough that it can fly into space at over 4 million miles per hour, sweeping up cold gas in front of it and forming a bubble.

Although the nebula was originally discovered by William Herschel in 1787, the Hubble Telescope was able to photograph it “with unprecedented clarity” in February of this year. The blue you see in the image above (and the video below) corresponds to oxygen, the green to hydrogen and red to nitrogen.

You can see a video representation of the aforementioned stellar bubble in the video below:

Sony has decided to bury its Xperia Z family for good after so many years and thought that now would be a good time to rebrand some of its smartphone series to try and offer itself a fresh start.

The old Xperia Z family will be replaced by a new one that was announced not long ago, Xperia X. No less than four new Xperia X smartphones will be launched on the market in the coming months, but for now, none has gone on pre-order.

If you haven’t been in the loop with the latest information about Sony’s new Xperia X family, you will be pleased to know that the Japanese company has just released a new video advert that explains some of the strongest features of Xperia X Performance and Xperia X.

Some of you might already know that both Sony Xperia X Performance and Xperia X smartphones come with impressive 23-megapixel photo snappers on the back side. Naturally, they will feature Sony sensor cameras and 4K video recording, but other advanced features will be available too.

Some advanced photography features will be included in both smartphones

One of these features is mentioned in the video as Predictive Hybrid Autofocus, which is supposed to keep users “always one step ahead.” We’re thinking this is some kind of new capturing technology that will allow for more accurate and faster autofocus.

The so-called Predictive Hybrid Autofocus should be especially useful when capturing a video that focuses on a single object or a person. Sony also promises that the use of this new feature will reduce blur thanks a sophisticated algorithm embedded into the camera’s software.

While we don’t know when exactly the Xperia X Performance and Xperia X will go on sale, we have learned that Sony plans to kick off pre-orders for its Xperia X family in the next couple of weeks.

Of the two, the Xperia X Performance will be more expensive since it comes with a Snapdragon 820 CPU inside whereas the Xperia X is powered by a Snapdragon 650 chipset.

How graphene could make tyres stronger and lighter

11 April 2016 Last updated at 14:10 BST
Bicycle tyre manufacturer Vittoria has added graphene to its tyres to improve their puncture resistance.
The graphene makes the tyres lighter, with less rolling resistance and more grip - something which was impossible using existing compounds, explained the company's senior executive manager Michael Marx.
A form of carbon, Graphene is many times stronger than steel and can carry electrical charges faster than currently used materials.
It was discovered in 2004 by Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov - who were awarded the 2010 Nobel prize in physics for their work on the material.
BBC Click's Spencer Kelly reports.
