It is being billed as the killer data offer but is actually BSNL’s bid to woo users back. The state-owned telecom service provider has announced a new scheme offering 20GB of mobile data for just Rs 50. They are billing it as community charging since users can now share this data with four other users.

The offer is available only for prepaid users and will be for those who take the Rs 50 recharge. It is however not clear how the sharing will work.

BSNL has of late been trying to woo customers with a host of freebies. For instance, the company offers free calls between 9PM and 7AM in most circles.

However, the move is likely to trigger counter offers from rivals at least in circles where BSNL is still dominant.
