Here is some bad news for Opera Mini users on Windows Phone, as developers have announced they have no plans to provide major updates to the application in the next few months.

Opera has also confirmed that all the resources have already been diverted to other platforms like Android and iOS, but that they will continue to support Opera Mini for Windows Phone with small updates.

According to developers, “this is, of course, not set in stone, and we’re hoping to review the platform later this year. But, right now, the small team who were working on the Windows Phone app are now dedicating their time to our other apps on iOS or Android.”

Developers will provide updates for any issues that users report and they are able to find a fix for, so if you're using Opera Mini on Windows Phone, you might still be treated to small updates from time to time.

In fact, Opera has recently released an update for the Windows Phone application that fixes a bug that was affecting a lot of people and developers were able to bring a fix to.

“Although the team who built Opera Mini for Windows phone aren’t actively bringing updates to it, they still want to keep it running smoothly,” explain developers in a blog post.

If you're wondering what is happening with the UWP (Universal Windows Platform) application that Opera has been discussing in the past, then you will be disappointed to learn that, at this time, they don't have enough resources to work on this.

However, Opera promises that when they review the outlook for the mobile platform later this year, the UWP app project will be taken into consideration as well.
