It’s been more than a year since Lenovo A7000, a mid-range smartphone, made its debut in India. At that time, the device shipped with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system onboard, but Lenovo promised that, at some point, it would provide a Marshmallow upgrade.

Earlier this week, the Chinese company has kicked off the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Lenovo A7000. Although the smartphone was launched in many countries since last year, the update is only available in India for the time being.

According to the official changelog, the update optimizes the logic of the SD card. This means that if you previously switched the default storage device, after upgrading to Marshmallow, the data and application stored on your SD card may be lost, so you should definitely back up any important data.

Also, Lenovo states that the upgrade process will take quite long and that the A7000 will restart several times during upgrade. If a blank screen is displayed, don’t be scared, as Lenovo confirms this might occur while the update process is running in the background.

It’s important to keep your phone running while upgrading to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, so make sure the A7000’s battery is at least 50% charged before attempting to update.

Not many things are known about the changes included in the update, but many Lenovo A7000 owners hope that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will address some of the issues that have affected the smartphone for a long time now.

We’re also expecting that some improvements to touch controls will be implemented as well because many users have been complaining of issues with touch features.

Keep in mind that the update is rolled out OTA (over the air) in waves, so it might take a while until it reaches all devices in the country. We don’t have any information regarding the availability of the update outside India, but we believe it shouldn’t take long for Lenovo to bring it to other countries.

It’s also worth mentioning that Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Lenovo A7000 is a 1.3GB download, so you might want to get it over Wi-Fi network rather than GSM.
