Huawei has just unveiled a new entry-level Android smartphone aimed at emerging markets, the Y3 II. At first glance, the device is designed to compete with other low-end handsets coming from native OEMs in India, but let’s take a look at what’s under the hood.

First of all, Huawei Y3 II is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor, paired with a Mali-T720 graphics processing unit and just 1GB of RAM.

However, the 3G model comes equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 CPU, complemented by a Mali 400 graphics processing unit and 1GB RAM.

Both 4G and 3G versions pack only 8GB of internal memory, but users can expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

As the title says, the Y3 II will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box and EMUI 3.1 on top of it. Huawei hasn’t stated anything regarding a Marshmallow update, but we doubt that will happen, considering the phone’s low-end specs.

To make things even worse, Huawei added a small 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 854 x 480 pixels resolution.

On the back, Huawei Y3 II features a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, while on the front there’s a modest 2-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

The good news is the handset offers dual-SIM support, as well as other connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 3.5mm audio jack and GPS with AGPS support. The Y3 II is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

According to a new report, Huawei Y3 II will be available in India soon for a price that will be unveiled close to launch. It’s also worth mentioning that customers will be able to choose from five color options: Arctic White, Sand Gold, Rose Pink, Obsidian Black, and Sky Blue.
