In this day and age, apps are everything. If there's something you want or like, there's surely going to be an app for that. 9Apps which is a popular app hub, has now published a report which speaks about the app download and usage trends in India and the results are quite interesting.

According to this report, an Indian mobile user on Android has about 32 mobile apps on average. This is lower than the global average, which tells us that users stick to the popular applications and don't like to experiment with regards to apps.

Among the popular apps are Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and UC Browser. However, the likes of Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon and Paytm were the top e-commerce apps in India, which is barely a surprise.

The report further mentioned that about 17% of all the daily app downloads are games. While 26% of the apps downloaded by the customers were Hindi language based.

Another interesting stat available here is that most users prefer downloading apps over a 2G network, telling us that 3G or 4G LTE is far from becoming mainstream across the country. It is said that users preferred to have offline playback on apps instead of streaming, which is understandable given cellular network constraints.
