If anyone had said last year that it was possible to have a smartphone packing 6GB of RAM inside, almost no one would have believed it.

Today, when there are already two smartphones with 6GB of RAM available for pre-order, this type of device doesn’t seem so out of the ordinary anymore.

Aside from Vivo Xplay 5 Elite and Vernee Apollo, which come with 6GB of RAM, customers in China will be pleased to know that another native OEM plans to release a similar smartphone in the next couple of months.

LeTV, a well-known Chinese OEM, has another flagship smartphone in the pipeline, the LeEco Le X820. The device might be released on the market under a different moniker, but that’s the name of the device listed at GFXBench.

We’re not sure whether or not it’s a good thing that companies have started to launch smartphones with 6GB of RAM because that would mean that the operating system makes use of all that memory.

Impressive rear-camera, lots of storage

Anyway, LeTV’s flagship smartphone boasts a stunning 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

Hardware-wise, the device come equipped with a 64-bit 2.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit and, as the title says, 6GB of RAM.

Also, the phone packs 64GB of internal memory, but there’s no mention of microSD card slot. At the back, LeTV LeEco Le X820 features a 21-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording, whereas in the front there’s a secondary 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Naturally, the smartphone will ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box. Other highlights of the LeEco Le X820 include an accelerometer, Bluetooth, compass, GPS, gyroscope, light sensor, pedometer, proximity, and WiFi.

Surprisingly, the prototype unit does not seem to offer NFC (Near Field Communication), though the final version might include this feature as well.

No word on availability and price tag yet, but the next step would be to see LeTV’s new flagship smartphone at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, so stay tuned.
